Check out this threatening letter I received from him, and my emails attempting to determine whether he was serious about this or was mistaken. This guy works at a firm I and many other people think very highly of. What the hell is his problem? The underlying case is a sad one, either way-- but that is no excuse to send a screed of outrageous, false, and malicious accusations like this. To be freaking continued at my earliest convenience.
Update 11/4/2024: I decided to write a letter back, which outlines my side's views. It's my first actual use of Graphviz for a visual timeline, and it turned out well. I'm working on a Time Event Charting module for my law firm software, and this was a nice opportunity to try out a preview.
Update 11/7/2024: I received a baseless 128.7 motion yesterday from David, which contains various falsehoods and material omissions, and does not address my letter of 11/4/2024 at all. If I were him, I would be embarrassed to have sent this out. To make matters worse, he also had it emailed to the court in violation of 128.7(c)(1), which prohibits the party intending to file a 128.7 motion from filing or presenting it to the court until 21 days have elapsed from service. This was unethical and in violation of the law, in an obvious attempt to prejudice the Court in their favor before I have a chance to respond. That's not something I expected from the Cotchett law firm, and I will have to deal with these ethical violations here and in court as may be appropriate. David is also obviously a very sensitive guy, because most of his declaration was devoted to lamentations about my Hall of Shame instead of the merits. That's sad, no joke. We're doing a counter-motion for sanctions if they actually file this, and I served 998 offers yesterday in what I thought was a pretty good initial move in response.
Update 11/8/2024: I wrote another letter back seeking to dissuade them from filing this motion. What more do I need to do? What's funny is that this irritating situation has caused me to extend my abilities with Graphviz and TeX by doing these graphs, which is actually helpful to me and my clients for the future.
